How to Launch Your Song (Without Losing Your Mind)
You’ve made the song.
You listened to it 47 times.
You’re proud. Slightly confused. Ready to release it.
Here’s how to get it from your hard drive to the world.
1. Export Your Track From Suno
Once you’re happy with your song, click Download in Suno.
Save it as MP3 or WAV.
Pro tip: name the file something sensible.
Not final_final_v3_REAL_thisone.wav.
Future-you will thank you.
2. Create a DistroKid Account
Head to DistroKid and choose a plan.
The Musician plan (around $20/year) is enough for most people.
You pay once, upload unlimited songs, and suddenly you’re “an artist” on paper.
Welcome to the club.
3. Upload Your Track to DistroKid
In your dashboard, click Upload.
You’ll need:
Your MP3 or WAV file
Cover art
Song title
Artist name
Release date (you can set it for later)
If you work across different styles or projects, DistroKid lets you create multiple artist profiles depending on your plan.
👉 Important: When asked if your track contains AI-generated elements, answer honestly. That’s totally fine. Just don’t pretend to be someone you’re not.
4. Choose Where Your Song Goes
Select the platforms you want:
Spotify
Apple Music
Amazon
YouTube Music
TikTok, Instagram, and more
Most are included automatically.
Optional extras exist, but you can safely skip them at the beginning. Simple is good.
5. Fill in the Metadata (This Matters More Than You Think)
This part isn’t glamorous, but it’s important.
Fill in:
Songwriter
Composer
Producer
Only use names you actually have the rights to.
No famous names. No jokes. No “just testing”.
Clean metadata keeps your song from getting rejected or removed later.
6. Submit and Be Patient (Briefly)
Click Save & Continue, then Submit.
Most songs go live within 1–2 days, sometimes a little longer depending on the platform.
While you wait:
Set up a HyperFollow page
Plan a small announcement
Resist the urge to refresh your email every 10 minutes
7. Optional: Use DistroKid’s Extra Tools
Once your song is live, you can:
Enable a YouTube Official Artist Channel
Connect to TikTok & Instagram
Add Spotify Canvas (short looping visuals)
Try light mastering tools if needed
None of this is required.
Nice to have, not mandatory.
8. Track, Share, Repeat
When the song is live:
Check streams and stats
Share your HyperFollow link
Add visuals where possible
Celebrate quietly or loudly — your choice
You don’t need to go viral.
You just need to release consistently.
Final Thought
Releasing music isn’t about perfection.
It’s about finishing, sharing, and moving on to the next idea.
You made something.
Now let it exist.
